Older children and teens can feel frustrated and powerless during and post separation. There has been research suggesting that as adults looking back, older children who were not given a voice can feel very resentful.

Equally it is easy for parents struggling with relationship breakdown to mishear what their children need and want as they struggle with their own grief. At Green Light Mediation we are qualified to offer child inclusive mediation. This is commonly a 3 meeting process where young people can speak to mediators in one of the sessions and then agree what can be fed back to the parents. The mediators will not betray any confidences the children want kept. It can be a very powerful tool to help protect children from damage during separation and divorce.
